All patrons are expected to adhere to the following Covid-19 Guidelines

· Masks to be worn at all times unless at your table

· Social Distancing is in effect.

· Enter the Hall door in the foyer and follow the arrows

· Patrons must sign in with the bar steward, giving name and contact number.

· Spray disinfectant will be used on the wooden tables as it will dry within three minutes.

· Patrons will be asked to turn the table sign up when leaving, to indicate the table needs to be disinfected.

· Main hall washrooms only will be available for use. A spray disinfectant will be used in the washrooms.

· Signage and hand sanitizers will be placed in accessible areas.

· Distancing measures will be painted on the pavement at the bar area

PURSLEY, John Thomas - We announce the passing of John on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the age of 71. John worked with his father Tommy in the family-owned business, Pursley Paving, which began in 1947. At his father’s passing he operated the business until his retirement in 2019. He was a member and Past Master of Wilson Lodge No. 113, A.F. & A.M., Waterford and a member of Branch 123 Royal Canadian Legion, Waterford.

Patricia Rundle, née Range
September 29, 1944 – September 9, 2021
On Thursday, September 9, 2021, Patricia “Pat” Rundle passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Algonquin Grace Hospice following a short but furious fight with cancer. Avid golfer and Member of Branch 123, Pat died the way she lived, stubbornly refusing to leave the party until she had given cancer a black eye.

DRYSDALE, Harry – Peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday October 11, 2020 of Waterford at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late Jackie (Cooke). Loving father of Ron (and the late Sheila), Randy (and Wendy), Steve, Dianna (and Erwin) Vranken. Proud Papa of Bryanne (and Darryl), Laney (and Sarah), Rachael, Sarah, Meaghan, and great grandchildren Scarlett, Bliss, Destiny, and Maverick. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bob (and Anne), Betty Black, Al (and Linda), Donna Drysdale, Nora (and Lyle) Mahoney, and Pat Drysdale. Predeceased by brother Sheldon and sister Evelyn Cronkwright. A Graveside Service was  held at Waterford Greenwood Cemetery with  Rev. Allan Burr officiating.

CALLIAUW, Firmen Sylvan – With family by his side at West Haldimand Hospital on Friday August 14, 2020 of Parkview Meadows Retirement Home formerly of Waterford in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Dolores (Mullin). Loving father of Val (and Steve) Carroll, Yvonne Mitchell (and Jay Hedges), Jan (and Greg) Deyne, Chris (and Rick) Goble, Patti (and Ric) Boyko, Ken (and Trish), Karen (and Bill) Boraski, Jeff (and Sheila). Proud Papa of 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Firmen will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by son Michael. Firmen was a Life Member of Branch 123.

JOEEN DONALDSON (nee Chambers)’Jo’

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday June 25, 2020. Loving and devoted mother of Mark (and Delphine), Jacqueline (and Jeffrey). She was an inspiration to her grandchildren. and will be sadly missed by her nieces, cousins, and friends. Jo’s love, compassion, and hard work, at the Waterford Legion Branch #123 will be deeply missed. Joeen was a beautiful soul, an avid gardener and artist. She was a lover of music, food, nature, and dogs. Jo dedicated herself to all things Norfolk, and won many awards for her jam entries at the Norfolk County Fair. A Celebration of Life will be held on a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Waterford Legion Branch #123

BURVILLE: William Edward (Bill) – Passed away at the Brantford General Hospital, on Sunday, May 24, 2020 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his first wife Ida May (Sapsford) Burville. Beloved spouse and partner of 25 years Rita Marie McDonald. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Harriet (Selves) Burville. Dear father of Harry. Loving grandfather to Christopher Burville, Leah Mattingley and great grandfather to Evan and Grace Mattingley. Predeceased by his brothers Victor and Leslie. Bill served in WWII with the R.C.A.F. from 1943-1945 and was a retired employee from Dominion Foundries and Steel. Bill was a proud member of Branch 123, Waterford Legion.

SEARLES, Valerie Jean - Surrounded by friends and family at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Tuesday March 5, 2019, of Waterford, at the age of 67. Beloved mother of Mandy (& Shawn). COREWIN, Elizabeth   December 29, 2019
Passed away in her 74th year as a result of complications from leukaemia.
Survived by her husband Rick Corewin, sister Barbara Robertson (Peter, Owen, Graham, David and Erin) of Ottawa, her brother John Inder (Helene, Yannick, Shawn) of Montreal. Andrea, Cameron, Eric and Martha complete the family. Their spouses Mark, Dianne, Margaret, and Sam and their children Carson, Sydney, Fenton, Caelan, Sarina, Grant, Ruby and Cecil. Elizabeth loved her family with all her heart. Associate member Branch 123.

 REID, Gary  On Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in his 71st year He will be deeply missed by his wife Sharon of 50 years, his children Melissa (and Aaron), Jenny and his fur baby Preston. Gary was a 45 year Associate member of Branch 123. He was the owner operator of Waterford Hardware and Appliance for 47 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, worked with Crime Stoppers and volunteered on many occasions.

 ATKINS, Peggy – Passed away peacefully with the love of her family at Norfolk General Hospital on Saturday May 4, 2019 of Waterford in her 100th year.  Beloved wife of the late William Atkins.  Loved mother of Peter (and Cheryl) and the late Lesley Sonnenberg.  Cherished Grandma Peggy of Eric Sonnenberg (and Jennette), Craig Sonnenberg (and Amanda), Amy Sonnenberg, Bridget Peacock (and Aaron), Rachel Ferreira (and Gil), Aaron Atkins (and Irene) and great grandchildren William Peacock, Lillian, and Noah Ferreira, Abigail Lesley and Isla Margaret Sonnenberg.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  Peggy was born in Westmoore North New Castle England to Isobelle and George Parker.  Peggy was a Veteran of World War 2 working in the Radar Division of the army.  She met her husband William and they married and came to Canada in 1946.  They lived in Villa Nova raising their family.  She was a life member of Villa Nova Baptist Church.  Teacher of CGIT groups.  Member of Norfolk General Hospital Auxiliary and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #123, Waterford.  Peggy enjoyed many crafts, baking was her specialty and knitting was her pleasure making many items for her children, grandchildren and others.  Friends may be received at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford on Thursday May 9, 2019 from 6-8pm.  Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday MAY 10, 2019 at 11am.  Rev. Andrew Bunner officiating.  Interment Greenwood Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Villa Nova Baptist Church, Waterford Legion Branch #123 Women’s Auxiliary or charity of your choice.

SMITH, Mary Jolly - November 28, 1919 - January 4, 2019.  Assosciate Member of Branch 123. Mary's journey began in Scotland and reached its final destination point in British Columbia. She proudly supported the war effort through her work in a munitions factory in Glasgow. Mary immigrated to Canada where she married Tom Smith(deceased) and raised their son Ian in Waterford. Mary supported various community events through the local Legion and Ladies Auxiliary. A Celebration of Life was held at the Waterford Legion.


Chadwick, Stephen – September 2018
Ordinary Member of Branch 123. Stephen passed away peacefully at his residence in Waterford at the age of 59. Loved father of Tiffany (and Daniel). Grandfather of Lexi. Most loving son of Carol and the late Dave Chadwick. Dear brother of Stacy (and Wally) Capra, Cathy Chadwick, Dave, Patty (and Robert) Jones. Cremation followed the family service.

HEXAMER, Peter Roy - April 15, 1944 - December 4, 2018 

Ordinary Member of Branch 123. Peter leaves to mourn him, his wife Patricia (nee Atkin); children Tom (Michelle) and Ashley (Nathan Collver) Jakovljevic; grandchildren and grand- adults. No matter the role or size of a task, Peter always strove to give 110%. His energy and enthusiasm followed him in every endeavour from home repair projects, to his electrical business, to his time in politics, to his contributions on numerous community boards and committees, to helping a neighbour or cheering on his grandchildren. At Peter’s request there was a private family visitation followed by cremation.

COX, Elmer Edwin - October 21st, 2017 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband to the late May (nee Holden) Cox . Father of Craig Cox (Carolyn) of Simcoe, Ryan Cox (Yvonne) of Tillsonburg, Dale Fettes (Will) of Simcoe, Debby Kopach (Mike) of Waterford, Karen Chamberlain (Robert) of Waterford, Alan Cox (Lenore) of Simcoe, Kevin Cox of Simcoe and Neil Cox (Janet) of Boston. Cherished grandfather and great grandfather. Elmer served for 20 years in the Canadian Militia with the 56th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA Reserve Unit retiring as the Regiment Commander at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a 47 year member of Branch 123 of the Royal Canadian Legion.

BIGGS, Donald Raymond - Peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday January 25, 2018 of Waterford at the age of 84. Dearly loved husband of the late Rhea, and the late Rae. Loving father of Shirley (and Gary) Teal, David (and Kathy) Carr, Judy (and Jim) Maddiford. Proud grandfather of Dana (and Jordan), Chris (and Miranda), Becky, Jonathan (and Michele), Mike, Glenn, Nicole (and Brian), and adored great grandchildren Maddison, Ashton, Charissa, Noelle, Kiana, Kyle, Molly, Alice, Andrew, Alex, and Sydney. Dear brother of Lois and brother-in-law Jake (and Pat). Predeceased by sisters Margaret and Elizabeth, brother Robert and sister and brother-in-law Millie (and Don) McCollum. Don was a proud member of the Waterford Legion Branch #123 and Don’s dedication was honoured by the many unending visits by his Comrades from the legion. Don served in the Korean War 2nd Battalion P.P.L.I. and was awarded the Ambassador’s Peace Medal in 2014. Friends may be received at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME , Wednesday January 31, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Legion Service will be Wednesday at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday February 1, 2018 at 11am. Pastor Allan Thompson and Pastor Jamie Shurr officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery. KIRKWOOD, Rick - It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Rick at Sudbury Regional Hospital on Thursday September 14, 2017, of Waterford at the age of 65. Best friend, partner and husband of Betty (Mann). Loving father of Eryn Kirkwood. Cherished son of Bee. and the late Wally Kirkwood. Loved brother of Ralph, Bob (and Sandy), and sister-in-law Barbara (and Tom) Malone. Rick will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Predeceased by brother Ronnie. Rick was a helicopter pilot for 45 years for public and private industries and an Associate Member of Branch 123.

BROADLEY, Allan Elgar – passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 16, 2017  Allan was a 60 year member of Branch 123, serving in the R.C.A.F. during WW11. He was a successful businessman owning and operating an Imperial Oil Dealership and later Albro Sales. Allan was committed to the Waterford Community and dedicated many volunteer hours through Waterford Lions, and Wilson Lodge 123, and was on the founding committee of Tricentruena. Friends may be received at THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford on Friday August 18, 2017 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday August 19, 2017 at 11am. Rev. . Cremation to follow funeral service with a memorial graveside service at Mickle Memorial Cemetery, Gravenhurst at a later date.

BURROUGHS, Gary - Of Teeterville, passed away at the Delhi Long Term Care Centre on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in his 87th year. Gary was a dedicated volunteer fireman in Teeterville for many years. Also Former Member the Royal Canadian Legion, Waterford Branch #123 and with the Masonic Lodge. He loved birds and tinkering on the farm. Beloved husband of over 55 years to Bonnie (Danley) Burroughs. Loving father of Marilyn Martin (Larry) and Stuart Burroughs (Anita). Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Stephen (Heather), Bailey and Beau. Predeceased by his son, Scott Burroughs (2013) and by his two brothers, Steven "Tiny" Burroughs and William Burroughs (1997), and by his sister, Mary Helen Grant (2005). 

GAUTHIER, Gerard Georges "Gerry" Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 29, 2016, in his 92nd year. Loving husband of the late Noella Beaudoin. Loving father of Ginette Atkinson (Peter), Claudette Fleury (Noel), Monique Langille (Allen), Michel Gauthier (Cindy), and Daniel Gauthier (Billie Jo). Loving P'pere of 14 grand- children and 18 great-grandchildren. Loving brother-in-law of Lisette and Bill Day. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gerry was retired from Amcan Castings after 37 years of service as well as 20 years of service as a Concession Manager at Burlington Beach Amusement Park. Words cannot express our gratitude to the staff of Norview Lodge in Simcoe, their warm and compassionate care will always be remembered. As per Gerard's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A celebration of Gerry's Life will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday December 30, 2016 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 123 (223 Nichol St. W., Waterford, ON N0E 1Y0).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.


THOMSON, Alexander (Alex) Bruce – Peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Monday November 7, 2016, of Waterford in his 100th year. Beloved husband of the late Muriel (Kernaghan). Dear father of Dorothy (and Albert) Cloet, David (and Anne), Bruce (and Sharon). Proud Grandpa of Renee (and Brien), Jeff (and Pauline), Mike (and Jayme), Stephen (and Karen), Darryl (and Michelle), Tracey (and Jeff); great grandchildren Garret, Nathan, Travis, Teran, Kyle, Rachel, Alexis, Tyler, Alex, Braydon, Abigail, Emma, and Jackson. Loving father of Claudia (and the late Lyle) King, Melanie (and Charlie) Culbert, Neil, Wendy Pieters, Inez (and Terry) Fitzpatrick, Earl (and Trish), Marcia (and Keith) Porter, Lisa Utley (and Jim McEachren). Beloved husband and partner of the late Sandy (Boisseneau). Loving father of Michele (and Ron), and Robert. Proud Grandpa of Christy (and Bryan), Caley, Tyler, and Hilliary. Dear brother of Trudy Walker, Rick (and Cathy).


Ray started as a welder at Stelco in Hamilton and accepted a transfer to Stelco in Nanticoke at which time he moved his family to the Waterford area. Ray was a proud member of the Waterford Legion Branch #123 and dedicated many hours of volunteer work at the legion. Ray wanted to be a farmer in every sense of the word, but knew enough about farming, he would leave it to the professionals.

Thomas "Tom" Wardlaw passed away on Thursday December 4, 2014Thomas "Tom" Wardlaw passed away on Thursday December 4, 2014WARDLAW, Thomas (Tom) - Peacefully after a brief illness at Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, December 4, 2014, of Waterford at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Smith). Loved father of David (and Margaret), Robin (and Rita More), Craig (and Flora Simpson), and the late Jonathan. Proud Grandfather of Sarah (and Andrew Bryce), Alison, Andrew; James (and Stephanie Nakitsas), Daniel; Duncan, Leithen, Rebecca, Mackenzie, and great- grandchildren Nathaniel, Aidan, Charlotte, and Theodora. Dear brother of Bob (and Jane), and the late Dr. Janet Wardlaw.


In 1942, Tom attended University of Toronto, but put his education on hold to serve in World War 2 as a Flying Officer RCAF from 1943-1945, seconded to RAF, 1944-1945. After the war Tom continued his education. He graduated as a C.A. and married Grace (Smith) in 1950. He completed his B.A. in 1969. Tom was an accountant in Toronto until 1965, and then a teacher at Waterford District High School where he taught until his retirement in 1983.


Tom was a long serving community volunteer with the Oakville Arts and Craft Guild, Waterford Minor Hockey, Waterford Softball Association, Lynnwood Arts Centre. He was the Brantford Expositor seniors columnist for many years, a licensed lay preacher, and a long-time member of Waterford United Church.
